Mota-Engil, as one of the main Portuguese economic groups, adopts in Portugal a position of clear leadership in most business areas where it operates such as civil construction and public works sector, waste management, port operation and municipal water concessions.

On a course of permanent investment, innovation and acknowledged management capacity, Portugal represents an important and significant support to the process of internationalization and diversification of activities that the Group tries to copy in all geographies where operates.

The activity of Mota-Engil in Slovakia is engaged by Mota-Engil Central Europe Slovakia, as subsidiary of Mota-Engil Central Europe S.A..

The activity, started in 2004, comprises the execution of civil construction, road and environmental infrastructures, as well as real estate development, area which the Group operates through Mota-Engil Real Estate Management.

In Spain, and in the area of Engineering and Construction, the Group’s activity is developed through a branch of Mota-Engil Engenharia e Construção and by Grossiman, acquired in 2005, which offers to its clients a complete service in all stages of the special foundations process in which they intervene.

The Group is also present in this country in the rail freight through Ibercargo (subsidiary of Takargo).

The activity of the Group in Hungary started in 1997 through Mota-Engil Magyaország with the construction of roads and bridges, railways, environmental infrastructures and also residential buildings.

Operating in this segment through Mota-Engil Central Europe, the Group is involved exclusively in the management of some real estate assets through Mota-Engil Real Estate Management.

The activity of the Mota-Engil Group in Ireland started in 2006, through the establishment of a Mota-Engil Engenharia e Construção branch in that country, setting up later Mota-Engil Ireland Construction, targeting the construction of buildings, road infrastructures and water treatment plants.

In the area of Environment and Services, the Mota-Engil Group also holds a stake in Mota-Engil Ireland Services, Ltd. (MEIS), establishing, in 2008, Glan Água Limited aiming to operate in the design, development, implementation and management of infrastructures in the sector of water, being awarded recently a main contract within this segment in this country.

The award in 1997 of two contracts to build and rehabilitate 142 bridges along the highway A4, marked the onset of the Group activity in Poland, a market where it begins to reach a national status as one of the main companies within the construction sector, fact which led to the creation of Mota-Engil Central Europe as platform for regional operations in Central Europe, also starting a diversification process to other segments of the construction activity, standing out the construction of buildings, environmental infrastructures and works in energy distribution networks.

The local real estate activity is managed by Mota-Engil Real Estate Management operating as vehicle of the Group for developing and managing the real estate projects in all countries of Central Europe.

Czech Republic

The Group began operations in Czech Republic in 1997 with the establishment of Sefimota, dedicated to execute construction projects of residential, industrial and service buildings, as well as urban and environment infrastructures.

In 2009, the company was renamed Mota Engil Central Europe Česká Republika, becoming a subsidiary of Mota-Engil Central Europe S.A., operating predominantly in civil construction and real estate development of residential buildings mainly in Prague, through Mota-Engil Real Estate Management.
